About The Position

At Residential Transitions, Inc. Our services support people living independently in the community, in their own homes, as well as in our residential settings. Through compassionate care and a person-centered approach, we aim to make a lasting difference in the lives of those we serve. Position Overview: Mental Health Workers, operating in a Direct Support (DSP) capacity, provide direct support professional services and independent living skills training to the individuals we serve in our 24-hour residential programs. These programs serve the needs of individuals in a home setting that is managed by RTI. Our clients include those with a severe mental illness (SMI) health diagnosis and or traumatic brain injury (TBI) disability. This role reports to the Program manager and has no direct reports.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED and relevant experience OR Bachelor's degree in related field.
  • Ability to pass a Department of Human Services background check.
  • Ability to pass the BCA Criminal Background Check and the Sexual Exploitation of Patients by Psychotherapist screen required by DHS.
  • Ability to pass screening required by Federal Human Services office of the Inspector General
  • Ability to organize and work independently.
  • Willingness to travel within the Metro Area, for applicable mileage reimbursements, with a current driver’s license, clean record, and personal vehicle with insurance; and able to transport clients in that vehicle.
  • Possess a person-centered approach, consistent with the Philosophical approach of the individual program and RTI
  • Ability to work with culturally diverse populations.
  • Other, as needed, as company and role expand or evolves.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in one of the behavioral sciences fields OR 2000 hours of supervised experience providing clinical services in mental health or children's emotional care.

Responsibilities

  • Support individuals in independent living skills through 1:1 service.
  • Support individuals in mental health management through identifying coping skills, practicing coping skills, and alternative methods.
  • Teach and model community integration skills such as: self-managing medications, managing personal finances, appropriate interpersonal interactions, managing the public transportation system, completing the necessary tasks to maintain a home, and accessing community resources.
  • Interacts informally with individuals to facilitate socialization and appropriate behavior.
  • Participates in scheduled and spontaneous recreational events.
  • Teaches healthy living habits and develops the accompanying skills.
