About The Position

At Residential Transitions, Inc. Our services support people living independently in the community, in their own homes, as well as in our residential settings. Position Overview: Mental Health Workers, operating in a Direct Support (DSP) capacity, provide direct support professional services and independent living skills training to the individuals we serve in our 24-hour residential programs. These programs serve the needs of individuals in a home setting that is managed by RTI. Our clients include those with a severe mental illness (SMI) health diagnosis and or traumatic brain injury (TBI) disability. This role reports to the Program manager and has no direct reports.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED and relevant experience OR Bachelor's degree in related field.
• Ability to pass a Department of Human Services background check.
• Ability to pass the BCA Criminal Background Check and the Sexual Exploitation of Patients by Psychotherapist screen required by DHS.
• Ability to pass screening required by Federal Human Services office of the Inspector General
• Ability to organize and work independently.
• Willingness to travel within the Metro Area, for applicable mileage reimbursements, with a current driver’s license, clean record, and personal vehicle with insurance; and able to transport clients in that vehicle.
• Possess a person-centered approach, consistent with the Philosophical approach of the individual program and RTI
• Ability to work with culturally diverse populations.
• Other, as needed, as company and role expand or evolves.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor's degree in one of the behavioral sciences fields OR 2000 hours of supervised experience providing clinical services in mental health or children's emotional care.

Responsibilities

• Support individuals in independent living skills through 1:1 service.
• Support individuals in mental health management through identifying coping skills, practicing coping skills, and alternative methods.
• Teach and model community integration skills such as: self-managing medications, managing personal finances, appropriate interpersonal interactions, managing the public transportation system, completing the necessary tasks to maintain a home, and accessing community resources.
• Interacts informally with individuals to facilitate socialization and appropriate behavior.
• Participates in scheduled and spontaneous recreational events.
• Teaches healthy living habits and develops the accompanying skills.
