About The Position

Ride Connection is seeking a compassionate, dependable Part-Time Driver to join our community-focused team based out of our East County office in Gresham. In this role, you’ll help people stay connected, independent, and engaged by providing safe, friendly, and reliable transportation throughout our community. You’ll support a variety of Ride Connection programs, including door-to-door service (D2D), group shuttles, and the Hospital Discharge Project, which helps individuals return home safely after medical care. You’ll regularly assist riders who use wheelchairs and operate larger passenger vehicles, so comfort with accessibility equipment and a people-first approach are key. Requirements

  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record (five-year look-back)
  • Minimum of five years of driving experience as recorded by the DMV
  • Ability to lift and move up to 30 pounds and safely secure wheelchairs in enclosed spaces
  • Comfort and willingness to drive larger vehicles
  • Reliable transportation to and from work
  • Ability to use smartphones and tablets for routing and communication tools
  • Ability to pass a National Criminal Record Check, including fingerprint identification (If a record exists, the nature and severity will be reviewed and may not be a barrier to employment)

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual or multilingual communication skills
  • Experience in a driving, transportation, or customer service role
  • Professional or lived experience working with older adults or people with disabilities

Responsibilities

  • Safely transport riders to medical appointments, community activities, and other essential destinations
  • Provide transportation for door-to-door, group shuttle, and hospital discharge services
  • Assist riders as they board and exit vehicles, including those using mobility devices, with care, respect, and dignity
  • Operate larger passenger vehicles and follow daily routes and schedules provided by the Program Manager
  • Create welcoming, positive experiences for every rider through friendly and professional service
  • Follow all traffic and safety regulations, especially when supporting riders with mobility challenges
  • Complete daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections, including fuel checks and safety reviews
