About The Position

TCS Mobility is proudly serving the transportation needs of all its clients and continues to look for professional, qualified candidates who are dedicated to assisting the local community. TCS Mobility is hiring for a PART TIME Dispatcher to provide direction and maintain two-way communications with all operators. While monitoring system performance and making scheduling adjustments where necessary to maximize on-time performance, minimize customer wait times for on-call or will-call services, minimize service disruptions because of vehicle/operator availability and/or emergency situations. Hours: 12 noon - 5p, Wednesday - Saturdays, so 20 hours/week.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Must be 21 or over
  • Valid Drivers License
  • Obtain and maintain a DOT physical
  • Have knowledge of the Columbia, SC area
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Data entry and general knowledge of windows and Microsoft Office package
  • Ability to read, write and speak English - basic knowledge of Spanish may be required depending on contract location and requirements
  • Able to use multi-line phone system and handle multiple tasks concurrently
  • Ability to work independently and follow directions
  • Ability to adapt and remain flexible in a dynamic environment

Responsibilities

  • Assign work, vehicles, and onboarding equipment to operators
  • Assign stand-by or extra board operators to minimize service disruptions
  • Review Pre-trip and Post-Trip inspections for reassignments or maintenance
  • Maintain attendance log for operators and other appropriate staff
  • Assign vehicles considering preventive maintenance schedules and capacity
  • Maintain two-way communication with operators
  • Monitor operators and trip status
  • Maintain scheduling and performance data in the event of real-time operations
  • Assist operators in the event of emergency, vehicle malfunctions
  • Communicating effectively with operations, safety, and maintenance staff
  • Reschedule trips in the event of vehicle malfunction, traffic, or an emergency
  • Assign will-call and same day trips to available and appropriate vehicles
  • Reconcile trip manifests and fares collected by operators upon check-in
  • Secure all equipment issued to operators at pull out upon check-in
  • Assist passengers in using the service and any inquiries
  • Document daily events accurately and appropriately
  • Maintain a safe work area to reduce injury to self or other employees
  • Maintain professional demeanor and appearance
  • Monitor driver hours to meet local and federal laws and rules
