The City of Anaheim Public Utilities Department is seeking five Part Time Customer Services Representatives I to join a dynamic team focused on providing exceptional service to utility customers. This role involves public contact and record-keeping related to water and electric utilities, requiring candidates to have some experience in customer service. The position averages up to 30 hours per week, with no guaranteed minimum hours, and requires availability Monday to Thursday from 7 AM to 6 PM and Friday from 7 AM to 5:30 PM.

  • Provide information and assistance to the public related to City services and respond to questions, complaints, or requests for service.
  • Determine the nature/urgency of issues and assist citizens in contacting appropriate personnel in other City departments.
  • Perform data entry functions and verify the accuracy of entered data.
  • Research requests, problems, and complaints and initiate appropriate action.
  • Take on-and-off orders for utility service and analyze customer records to apply appropriate utility rates.
  • Process temporary water meter applications and ensure City requirements are met.
  • Answer customer questions and investigate complaints pertaining to utility billing procedures.
  • Use various computer systems to enter data of new utility customers and make data changes.
  • Determine and resolve utility payment problems and mis-readings.
  • Prepare orders to install, remove and repair meters and perform other service-related changes.
  • Perform financial transactions including processing payments and managing customer payment programs.
  • Coordinate efforts with outside agencies for payment of utility accounts and perform collection efforts on closed utility accounts.
  • Read and analyze single-line diagrams and assist customers with service disconnections.
  • Audit, analyze, and reconcile computer reports and maintain various manual records.
  • Research customer records to resolve difficult inquiries and prepare correspondence in response.
  • Assist in the training of new Customer Service Representatives.
  • Some public contact experience in the sales or service field.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced customer service call center environment.
  • Ability to handle high call volumes and deliver exceptional service under pressure.
  • Experience in troubleshooting customer issues and providing analytical solutions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience working with sensitive financial and/or confidential information.
  • Experience with Enquesta or similar Customer Information Systems software.
  • Experience in utility-related customer service.
  • Ability to bring an empathetic approach to customer service resolutions.
