About The Position

The Abbington at Layton Assisted Living Community is looking for a Cook. Must be reliable, honest, and hardworking, and be able to pass a rigid background check including fingerprinting and drug test. This role is Part-Time and availability is flexible but candidates with more open availability, including weekend availability, will be considered first. Must have excellent communication skills and a love for working with seniors. This position, under the direction of the Director of Dining Services will be expected to prepare food using a variety of utensils and equipment according to standardized recipes, follow directions and policies with regards to food storage and organization, food preparation, overall kitchen cleanliness, food safety and sanitation, and compliance with local and state regulations and codes as well as strict kitchen standards. We are a scratch kitchen and we strive to provide consistent, nutritionally balanced, visually impactful meals and serve seasonal, flavorful, and higher-end, restaurant-quality food. We are looking for cooks who enjoy the craft of cooking and are willing to stand behind the food they cook. Restaurant or other Food Service experience is preferred, but we will also hire and train less-experienced candidates who have a desire to learn and possess a strong work ethic.
