About The Position

Digital Scientists is a leading professional services firm specializing in custom software development solutions, catering to multiple industries including healthcare, logistics, and the public sector. We are hiring an experienced financial Controller to be responsible for managing all of our accounting operations, budgets, forecasts, financial reporting and strategy. This is a fractional, part-time hybrid role (20-26 hours per week), for someone with prior hands-on experience who is available to work 2 - 3 days per week in our downtown Alpharetta office. Although a part-time position, this role is crucial to directly impacting the financial management and decision-making of our small growth-oriented business. You will partner directly with our CEO and COO to oversee financial management and operational rigor across the firm. Responsibilities include ensuring GAAP compliance and adherence to applicable financial regulations, managing and mitigating financial risk, driving cost discipline, and owning the full lifecycle of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and core bookkeeping processes. This role requires ownership, accountability, and the ability to translate financial data into clear, actionable insights for leadership. Requires an extremely organized and efficient self-starter who has a working knowledge of QuickBooks, with the drive and ability to improve our processes. You'll be working with Google Suite and using a MacBook.

Requirements

  • 6+ years related experience in a B2B company; professional services industry helpful
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent work/educational experience
  • Competence with QuickBooks Online
  • Parallax software experience, or other project resource planning software experience
  • Experience with engagement profitability, utilization tracking, and project-based accounting
  • Strong spreadsheet skills required. Google Workspace experience helpful, but not required
  • High level of integrity and self-motivation to facilitate strategic direction and processes

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with government contracting (GSA) or compliance frameworks helpful
  • Track record of process automation or system improvements in finance functions

Responsibilities

  • Prepare Financial Statements, using accrual-based accounting
  • Initiate and Create Forecasting, Budgeting, and other Ad Hoc reporting
  • Record bank account and business credit card transactions
  • Reconcile all expenses, receivables, and lines of credit
  • Monthly and year-end close
  • Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable
  • Drive the creation of Client-Billable Rates, and assist in the preparation of SOWs for Clients.
  • Develop reports to show utilization, costs, profitability, etc., using Parallax software.
  • Liaison with outside CPA for year-end tax reporting
  • May provide office administration by ordering supplies, managing vendor services, purchasing equipment, and making travel arrangements, etc.
  • Collaborate with Part-Time HR Manager and occasionally interact with Vendors & Clients
  • Report to CEO
