About The Position

The Nursing Department invites applications to teach in OCC's CNA workforce program. Major responsibilities include teaching clinical instruction and evaluation, lab instruction and evaluation; student mentoring and ensuring strengthening of knowledge, skills and competencies The successful candidate will: Use appropriate technology to deliver and enhance learning. Be innovative in the presentation of hands-on learning activities that achieve learning outcomes. Assess learning outcomes and provide timely feedback. Be responsive to student questions and available for student support; Demonstrate insight and encouragement in working with diverse student populations, especially students traditionally underrepresented in higher education; Be accountable to meet the needs of the Department and the College, including timely submission of grades and other required materials.

Requirements

  • Current NYS RN registration and CPR certification.
  • Certification to teach Nurse Aide or Practical Nursing or
  • One year of experience teaching nurse aides in a residential health care facility or
  • One year of experience teaching nursing or nursing related programs to adults in an academic setting approved by the Commissioner of Education or
  • Completion of the State approved professionally recognized course in teaching adult learners or
  • Documentation is attached that verifies one year of experience caring for the elderly and/or chronically ill.
