About The Position

Join our community and experience Emerson College! The temporary, part-time, grant-funded Clinical Instructor position reports to the Director of Clinical Programs and will provide clinical supervision to graduate students in the Robbins Speech Language and Hearing Center, supporting the clinical requirements of the department's accredited Master's program in Speech-Language Pathology. This role requires exceptional clinical skills in the area of bilingual assessment and intervention in the field of speech language pathology, as well as the ability to collaborate and communicate with a diverse population of the college community.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology (SLP) required
  • 3 or more years of experience in the SLP field working with bilingual populations required
  • ASHA CCC-SLP certifications and Massachusetts state SLP licensure required
  • Knowledge of a second oral language, in addition to English, required
  • Documentation of completed continuing education training in the area of supervision, required

Responsibilities

  • Provide targeted student training in bilingual assessment and intervention.
  • Assist in the selection of bilingual materials to expand clinical resources
  • Assist in developing project goals and measuring outcomes
  • Supervise graduate students as they lead speech and language evaluation and therapy sessions.
  • Meet with students to provide feedback and discuss skills, grades, suggestions, and concerns.
  • Coordinate and oversee client care.
  • Lead individual and group supervision meetings with the graduate student clinicians.
  • Maintain current knowledge of the discipline by attending meetings, reading professional journals, and participating in community-based professional activities.
  • Review and provide feedback on treatment plans, SOAP notes, evidence-based practice papers, and summary reports written by graduate students.
  • Assist with recruitment and outreach to attain new bilingual clients in the Robbins Center.
  • Collaborate with other professionals as appropriate.
  • Complete administrative work and maintain records as required.
  • Provide guidance and training to other staff members as required.
  • Perform other miscellaneous duties as assigned.
