About The Position

This is a part-time (.5 FTE) position requiring 4 hours of work per day, specifically from 5:00 am to 9:00 am, over a 12-month period. The role involves various cleaning and maintenance tasks within the facility. Employees are expected to perform a range of duties that include dusting, vacuuming, sweeping, washing windows, walls, woodwork, and cleaning water closets, tubs, and bowls. Additionally, employees will gather and dispose of refuse, use heavy mechanical equipment to strip, polish, and wax floors, and may be responsible for opening and securing buildings. Other tasks may include varnishing, shellacking, and polishing furniture and brass, tending to the furnace, performing minor maintenance tasks such as unskilled painting or carpentry, replacing lights, and hanging window shades and Venetian blinds. Employees are also expected to carry out all other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Non-Competitive, Labor class Civil Service position
• Working knowledge of building cleaning practices, supplies and equipment
• Ability to understand and follow simple oral and written directions
• Ability to read and write
• Willingness to perform janitorial tasks

Responsibilities
