Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Structural Engineering from an accredited university or equivalent training, education and experience.
  • Minimum of 10 years of power system design experience in the Nuclear or Power Industry.
  • Experience in engineering/design services, power generation, nuclear power, heavy industrial including chemical or pulp & paper, and government (DOE) projects.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in preparation of structural calculations.
  • Knowledge of discipline-specific computer analysis codes and standard office production software.
  • Proficient in Word and Excel.
  • Familiar with the International Building code and building code design.
  • Good writing, presentation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to be an individual contributor and work effectively in teams.
  • Familiar with concrete and steel design codes and with working stress and ultimate strength design approaches.
  • Must be able to get badged at a nuclear facility.
  • Must be able to perform plant walkdowns.

Nice To Haves

  • Candidates who have mentorship experience or a desire to mentor early to mid career engineers preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Dive into detailed analysis and design of critical structures and components.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure designs meet rigorous safety and regulatory requirements.
  • Evaluate proposed plant modifications to uphold safety and compliance.
  • Prepare in-depth technical reports, design calculations, and specifications.
  • Communicate findings to key stakeholders.
  • Work seamlessly with professionals from various engineering fields.
  • Develop innovative design studies and craft comprehensive project scopes.
  • Produce accurate engineering estimates.
  • Tackle complex technical challenges with fresh ideas and creative problem-solving strategies.
  • Participate in site walkdowns, oversee field installations, and support system start-ups.
  • Lead by example, motivating teams to achieve ambitious goals.
