About the position

As a Part Time Cheese Monger, you will create an outstanding customer experience through exceptional service. Your role will involve establishing and maintaining a safe and clean environment that encourages our customers to return. You will assist in achieving sales and profit goals established for the department, monitor and control all established quality assurance standards, and work closely with the Murray's team and the Fresh Foods department to create an engaging environment for customers. Embracing the customer service strategy and encouraging associates to deliver excellent customer service while demonstrating the company's core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion, and safety of others is essential.

Responsibilities

  • Create an environment that enables customers to feel welcome, important, and appreciated.
  • Answer questions regarding products sold within the department and throughout the store.
  • Gain and maintain knowledge of products sold within the department.
  • Offer product samples to help customers discover new items.
  • Inform customers of Murray's Cheese specials.
  • Provide customers with fresh products that they have ordered.
  • Adequately prepare, package, label, and inventory ingredients in merchandise.
  • Check product quality to ensure freshness.
  • Review 'sell by' dates and take appropriate action.
  • Label, stock, and inventory department merchandise.
  • Report product ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
  • Understand the store's layout and locate products when requested by customers.
  • Stay current with present, future, seasonal, and special ads.
  • Maintain an awareness of inventory/stocking conditions.
  • Adhere to all local, state, and federal health and civil code regulations.
  • Comply with all state, county, and local weights and measures laws and labeling requirements.
  • Ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers are maintained.
  • Reinforce safety programs by complying with safety procedures.
  • Practice preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment.
  • Notify management of customer or employee accidents.
  • Report all safety risks, or issues and illegal activity.
  • Willing to taste cheese, in accordance with company policies.

Requirements

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills.
  • Willingness to participate in and successfully complete required training.
  • High school diploma or GED; or one to three months related experience and/or training.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions and correspondence in English.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence in English.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.
  • Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and perform operations using American money and weight measurement.
  • Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed instructions.
  • Complete Company's training including food sanitation, customer service network, safety, food safety, and product knowledge.
