About The Position

The Cashier at Great Lakes Ace Hardware is responsible for customer acknowledgment, maintaining a good company image, and promoting goodwill through positive interactions. This role involves operating the cash register, processing transactions, and engaging with customers to enhance their shopping experience. Requirements

• Must be at least 16 years of age.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules and policy manuals.
• Effective communication skills with customers and associates.
• Basic mathematical skills for handling transactions.

Responsibilities

• Operate cash register by scanning merchandise and engaging customers.
• Process refunds and issue in-store merchandise credits for returns.
• Use loss prevention techniques to reduce shortages and prevent shoplifting.
• Follow company policies and procedures for all transactions.
• Engage customers to ensure they receive benefits of Ace Rewards membership.
• Maintain familiarity with ads, rebates, and special pricing.
• Answer telephones and refer calls to the proper department.
• Greet customers and assist with questions about merchandise.
• Aid customers in locating merchandise in-store and online.
• Display, stock, and maintain merchandise according to company guidelines.
• Assist with color matching and mixing paint.
• Collect carts and carry merchandise to customer cars as needed.
• Assist customers in service areas such as key cutting and screen repair.
• Follow nightly maintenance checklist for store recovery and cleanliness.
• Refer customer complaints to the appropriate person for resolution.
