About The Position

The Cashier is responsible for register transactions involving the sale and/or return of merchandise. The role includes projecting a positive representation of Westlake Ace Hardware, greeting customers, thanking them by name when possible, and maintaining a friendly demeanor. The Cashier must clear customer checkout lines quickly and efficiently, answer calls and pages promptly, and communicate any issues requiring management assistance. Additionally, the Cashier is responsible for building product knowledge, assisting with pricing and stocking, and ensuring the front end of the store is neat and clean.

Requirements

  • High School or GED equivalent.
  • Cashier experience preferred.
  • Customer service experience preferred.
  • Ability to stand, walk, lift (up to 25lbs), and climb.

Responsibilities

  • Project a positive representation of Westlake Ace Hardware.
  • Greet customers entering and throughout the store.
  • Thank customers by name when possible.
  • Clear customer checkout lines quickly and efficiently.
  • Answer and monitor all calls and pages promptly and courteously.
  • Communicate any problem or issue that requires management assistance.
  • Build product knowledge and assist customers with store layout and product location.
  • Assist in pricing, stocking, marking, and bagging of merchandise.
  • Follow all cash register transaction procedures.
  • Balance the register drawer.
  • Participate in store and Cashier meetings.
  • Keep the front end, including checkout areas and entrance doors, neat and clean.
  • Face and dust front end.
  • Assist with keeping impulse counters stocked and faced.
  • Ensure fresh ads are stocked in shopping carts.
  • Ensure forms and supplies are stocked at all times.
  • Assist with decorating the front end according to the Store Support Center program.
  • Call for cart pickups when necessary.
  • Inform management when merchandise returns need to be put away.
