About The Position

Empowered Services creates stable, supportive environments for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). Our Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) help individuals build independence, maintain routines, and feel confident in their daily lives through one-on-one support.

Empowered Services is seeking a calm, dependable entry-level DSP to support an adult who prefers a relaxed pace of life with a balance of time at home and occasional outdoor activities. This role is best suited for someone who is steady, adaptable, and comfortable providing gentle guidance without being overly directive. This is a low-pressure, relationship-focused role where consistency and patience matter more than speed or intensity.

You’ll be working with an adult who:
Enjoys a quieter lifestyle with occasional outdoor activities like walking or hiking
Works part-time and has a changing weekly schedule
Benefits from reminders and structured support throughout the day
May need extra time to process information or navigate stress
He does best with someone who can stay steady, supportive, and consistent, while allowing space and independence.

Requirements

• 18+ years old
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
• Current auto insurance
• Ability to pass a background check

Nice To Haves

• Experience in caregiving, DSP, or similar roles
• Strong communication and patience
• Ability to adapt to changing schedules

Responsibilities

• Support daily routines such as meals, hygiene, and organization
• Help manage schedules, appointments, and basic budgeting
• Provide reminders and gentle prompts throughout the day
• Offer calm support during moments of stress or overwhelm
• Encourage independence while maintaining structure and follow-through
