Clark College is currently accepting applications for a part-time, temporary Campus Security Officer. This position is responsible for the safety and security of the Clark College campus by performing various duties and responsibilities. The Campus Security Officer will work approximately 16 hours per week, with hours that may vary based on quarterly needs. The role is crucial in maintaining a safe environment for students, staff, and visitors on campus. The Campus Security Officer will enforce campus regulations as well as local, state, and federal laws. This includes patrolling the campus by walking, biking, or using a gas/electric cart or patrol vehicle to ensure compliance with college policies and procedures. The officer will check buildings and grounds for any disruptive individuals, fires, property damage, and other irregularities. Protecting the safety of students and college employees, as well as their property, is a primary responsibility. The officer will also respond to emergency calls, including fire alarms and medical emergencies, and prepare incident reports using computerized systems. In addition to enforcing college parking and traffic regulations, the Campus Security Officer will provide various services to the college community, such as building access, parking lot escorts, and motorist assistance. The role requires operating equipment including radios, vehicle entry tools, booster packs, gas/electric carts, and patrol vehicles. The officer must obtain and maintain first aid/CPR/AED certification and operate as a Campus Security Authority (CSA), completing all assigned training in Clery Act compliance. Effective customer service is essential, as is the ability to communicate well with individuals from diverse backgrounds. The officer must also be adaptable to changing business needs and work responsibilities, coordinating with others to share information and implement solutions to problems or complaints.
