About The Position

JOB POSTING POSITION TITLE: Part Time Campus Nurse REPORTS TO: Principal and/or other Supervisor QUALIFICATIONS: Valid nursing license (LPN or RN) in the state of employment Experience in a clinical setting, preferably in a school or pediatric environment. Knowledge of physiology and basic life support (BLS) techniques. Familiarity with medication administration protocols and experience administering injections is preferred. Strong communication skills to effectively interact with students, parents, and staff. Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations while providing care. A compassionate approach to patient care with a strong commitment to student well-being. Upon employment, seeks and maintains current certification in audiometric, vision, spinal and Acanthosis Nigricans screening from the Texas Department of State Health Services MAJOR POLICY RESPONSIBILITY: Implements comprehensive program of health services for the District. Provides health services and screenings to students. Promotes health/safety education and preventive health practices for students. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: 1. Provide temporary and emergency care for sick and injured students 2. Notify parents of accident or illness and secure medical care for student in emergency cases (if parents or emergency contact cannot be reached) 3. Coordinate management system to administer medications to students at school; administer medications according to district policy and procedures 4. Establish and implement effective procedures for mandatory screening programs; make referrals as necessary 5. Evaluate faculty and staff as needed on health related topics 6. Provide health counseling and instruction to individual students 7. Serve as health liaison between school, physicians, and parents 8. Collaborate with other professionals regarding implementation of health-related Individual Education Plan (IEP) items 9. Communicate regularly with principal and health services coordinator regarding health services issues 10. Review and evaluate immunization records 11. Compile, maintain and file all physical and computerized reports, records and other documents required, including clinic records and accurate, updated health records on all students 12. Maintain certification in CPR, vision and hearing screening, and health screening OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS: Attend meetings as required by the Superintendent. All other duties as assigned
