About The Position

Key objectives will be achieving/improving/exceeding targeted customer service levels, managing inventory levels and targets, and managing supply and demand within the existing supply chain. This position is responsible for ensuring that needed materials are in place when required by production; providing support to the manufacturing department’s inventory management, replenishment buying, and executing on a forecast.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Procurement or related field or a minimum of 3 years of related experience in Materials procurement and or supply chain development.
  • Strong computer skills in ERP purchasing systems and MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and resolve conflict with suppliers, internal team members, customers, engineers, manufacturing and buyers.
  • Demonstrate strong reasoning and negotiating abilities.
  • Have the ability to develop strong and healthy relationships with coworkers and suppliers.
  • The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear and frequently required to walk and sit. Use of hands and fingers will be required for writing, computer use, and phone use. Work in a manner consistent with standard Sauder safety practices and expectations. The employee will also be required to walk throughout the plant at various times during a typical day. Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain materials inventory levels which support production needs and goals.
  • Ensure that all replenishment purchases are made in a timely matter, and delivered to meet production needs. Confer with vendors to obtain availability and delivery information.
  • Monitor inventory levels, forecast, and replenish production raw materials.
  • Determine economic order quantity for raw material purchases based on upcoming demand.
  • Monitor and replenish non-production supply items essential to the operation of the plant. (Sandpaper, gloves, etc.)
  • Work with plant supervision to resolve day-to-day material constraints in the value stream.
  • Expedite rush orders.
  • Proactively report product and material availability issues to stakeholders.
  • Maintain purchase order status and shipment tracking information.
  • Ensure costing, lead-time, and supplier records are maintained in the ERP system.
  • Monitor supplier performance to ensure service levels are achieved.
  • Ensure compliance to existing contracts and service levels.
  • Optimize freight opportunities.
  • Work collaboratively with materials supervisor to ensure a balance of space constraints and material availability are addressed.
  • Suggest and assist in the implementation and recommendations of supply chain improvements. Including but not limited to establishing reorder points, safety stock, min/max stocking measures, kanban systems, etc. for the overall lead-time and inventory reductions while still maintaining competitive pricing, quality and part integrity.
  • Complete special projects and assignments as requested.
