About The Position

The Township of Union Public Schools is seeking dedicated, knowledgeable, and qualified Bus Drivers REQUIRED: High School Diploma or equivalent Acceptable verbal and written communication skills Must possess a NJ driver license with CDL Class B, air brake and S endorsements Previous experience as a school bus driver Possess a clean driving record Ability to participate in all required bus aide training and professional development including CPR, EPI and First Aid training Ability to perform assigned duties Successfully pass a Physical Examination, Mantoux and Criminal History Review Exhibit a personality that demonstrates interpersonal skills to relate well with students, staff, administration, parents and the community

Requirements

  • Successfully pass a Physical Examination, Mantoux and Criminal History Review
  • Exhibit a personality that demonstrates interpersonal skills to relate well with students, staff, administration, parents and the community

Responsibilities

  • Conduct Pre-trip inspections prior to beginning the route both a.m. and p.m. and report any mechanical issues.
  • Maintain student discipline on the bus at all times. Fill out disciplinary reports for any infractions.
  • Complete all required reports accurately and in the time frame requested by the supervisor.
  • Must be able to perform and demonstrate bus evacuation procedures.
  • Secure special needs students with restraints, tie downs (e.g. wheelchairs, seat belts, car seats, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring the safety and well-being of students.
  • Provide first aid and/or CPR only as trained and required by the situation.
  • Protect confidentiality of records and information about students.
  • Submit to random drug and alcohol testing per State law.
  • Keep the bus clean and fueled at all times.
  • Reports all accidents and injuries immediately to the Transportation supervisor and completes required reports.
  • Will not use cell phone while on the bus. In emergency situations the bus must be pulled over to the side of the road with the engine turned off.
