Part-Time Building Support Specialist
About The Position
Atlas Public Schools is seeking motivated and reliable individuals to serve as part-time Building Support Specialists. This temporary position supports classroom teachers and the overall operations of the school. The role is ideal for college students studying education, individuals exploring a future career in education, retired educators, or those interested in gaining hands-on experience working in a school environment. Team members in this role will work closely with teachers and school staff to support instruction, supervise students, and assist with daily classroom and building needs.
Requirements
- Missouri Substitute Teacher Certificate required
- Interest in working with children and supporting student learning
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to be flexible and assist where needed
- Experience working with children or in educational settings preferred but not required
Responsibilities
- Assist teachers with classroom instruction and learning activities
- Support small group work and individual student needs
- Supervise students during transitions, lunch, recess, and other activities
- Help maintain a positive, safe, and structured learning environment
- Prepare classroom materials and organize supplies
- Assist with classroom setup, organization, and daily routines
- Support teachers with basic administrative tasks and student supervision
- Provide coverage and assistance where needed across the building
- Help with arrival, dismissal, and student transitions
- Support school-wide activities
- Help lead intersession programming
- Maintain professionalism and reliability in attendance and punctuality
- Follow all Atlas Public Schools policies and procedures
- Work collaboratively with teachers and school staff
- Support a positive school culture aligned with Atlas values
