About The Position

The City of Anaheim is seeking a motivated and reliable Part Time Building Inspector I to conduct inspections of new and altered structures, ensuring compliance with national, state, and city codes for residential, commercial, and industrial buildings. This role emphasizes providing excellent customer service while performing inspections and advising on building permits and construction methods.

Requirements

• Possession of International Code Council (ICC) certification as a Building Inspector is required prior to completion of the probationary period.
• Relevant experience in building inspection or a skilled construction trade is required.
• Knowledge of building construction methods, techniques, and applicable laws and codes is essential.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, plans, and specifications for compliance with codes.

Nice To Haves

• Bilingual proficiency in Spanish is preferred.
• Registration as a Certified Building Inspector from the International Code Council is desirable.
• Registration as a Certified Combination Inspector is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Conduct inspections of structures and facilities to determine compliance with building codes and standards.
• Review and schedule daily inspection assignments, confirming time windows with property owners and contractors.
• Inspect various phases of construction, from foundation to final approval, ensuring proper construction methods are followed.
• Assist in reading blueprints and interpreting codes and regulations for property owners and contractors.
• Issue correction notices and stop-work orders as necessary, within established authority.
• Coordinate inspection activities with other City departments and divisions.
• Utilize permit tracking systems to record inspection findings and maintain records.
