About The Position

Bishop Dunne Catholic School provides a model college preparatory Catholic education with technology integration in a diverse school environment. We are seeking a Part-Time Assistant Drama Director who will serve as a key member of the drama program and assist the lead director in their duties to the school and the students. This position is a seasonal, exempt, stipend paid position that is needed from January 2026 through May 2026 only. Candidates must be available for meetings, rehearsals, and performances as follows: Weekly meetings/rehearsals – Tuesdays & Thursdays 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Tech Week (April 27 – May 1) – 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Performances (May 2 – May 3) – 12:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. The Part-Time Assistant Drama Director shall adherer to all Bishop Dunne Catholic School and Diocese of Dallas rules and regulations. They should serve as a member of the artistic community at the school and strive to embed themselves into many different facets of the school.

Requirements

  • A degree in Drama/Theatrical Arts, or a related field. Alternatively, at least 2 years of experience in a drama program or professional theater setting.
  • At least 1 year of experience working in a drama program and/or teaching position.
  • Relevant skills in acting, directing, script analysis, technical theater, etc.
  • Experience working with technical systems for scheduling and online paperwork completion.
  • Experience working with students in grades 6 and up, preferably in a mentor capacity.
  • Must be currently authorized to work in the United States
  • Must be able to pass a background check and comply with the Diocese of Dallas Safe Environment Program.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborating with the lead director to select shows for performance, cast students in productions, and run drama rehearsals.
  • Scheduling drama club meetings, rehearsals, tech week work, and showtimes via Bishop Dunne’s FMX system.
  • Working with the lead director to set the rehearsal schedule for all shows.
  • Emailing vendors for costumes, set pieces, or any other equipment needed for the show.
  • Facilitating communication and partnerships between Dunne Drama and other programs at the school.
  • Creating marketing materials for productions, including graphics, posters, and Falconer articles.
  • Completing required forms for resource acquisition, funding expenditures, and transportation to outside events.
  • Serving as a mentor to students in the program, with the express goal of being a role model for young artists.
  • Serving as a direct assistant to the lead director in helping them keep the program running smoothly.
  • Staying up to date on all diocesan required training.
