The position involves caring for, feeding, monitoring, medicating, and performing minor treatments on animals. The individual will report observed health or behavior issues to the ACC Supervisor/Manager and is responsible for cleaning assigned areas daily. Additionally, the role includes assisting prospective clients in selecting animals for adoption and advising new owners on pet examinations, adoption benefits, policies, and procedures. The individual will provide information to the public about SPCA of Texas programs and promote good animal care and responsible pet ownership. Keeping a current inventory of necessary program supplies and reporting shortages to the ACC Supervisor is also part of the job. The individual must maintain assigned equipment, supplies, and vehicles in safe condition and report any problems or needed repairs to the ACC Supervisor. Protecting confidential information on customers and donors is essential, as is representing the SPCA of Texas by providing excellent customer service. The individual is expected to report to work at the assigned start time, adhere to break and lunch schedules, and leave work at the assigned quitting time. Engaging with volunteers to support the volunteer program and being an ambassador for the SPCA of Texas by sharing its mission and work with others is also required. Additional tasks may be assigned by the ACC Supervisor/Manager. The individual may be required to operate an SPCA of Texas vehicle if they meet the requirements to become a driver, which includes being at least 21 years old and qualified to operate a motor vehicle in Texas.
