These positions are on an as needed, semester-by-semester basis. Rank is determined at the time of hiring and will be commensurate with credentials. These positions are for work to be performed in the state of Georgia.

Requirements

  • To teach undergraduate courses: A minimum of a Master's degree, or the foreign equivalent, in Science (Biology, Environmental Science, Ecology, Geology for ISCI 2001 or Physics and/or Chemistry for ISCI 2002) or a closely related discipline
  • OR A minimum of a Master's degree, or the foreign equivalent, in Science Education with 18 graduate credit hours in science content (Biology, Environment Science, Ecology, Geology, Ecology, Physics, Chemistry, or a related field) or a closely related discipline is required at the time of hire.
  • OR A minimum of a Master's degree, or the foreign equivalent, in a non-related discipline with 18 graduate credit hours in the science content (Biology, Environment Science, Ecology, Geology, Ecology, Physics, Chemistry, or a related field) is required at the time of hire.
  • To teach graduate courses: A Terminal/Doctorate degree, or the foreign equivalent, in Science Education with 18 graduate credit hours in science content (Biology, Environment Science, Ecology, Geology, Ecology, Physics, Chemistry, or a related field) or a related discipline is required at the time of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience as a K-5 teacher.
  • Experience coaching or teaching preservice or inservice teachers
  • Experience teaching on-line or hybrid courses
  • Record of past teaching undergraduate courses

Responsibilities

  • Teaching undergraduate and/or graduate courses in the science content for teachers or science methods for elementary teachers
  • Collaborating with program and science education faculty
  • Gathering and scoring necessary assessment data for accreditation purposes
  • Participating in faculty meetings, program meetings and science education meetings
