About The Position

The College of Law at West Virginia University invites applications for part-time adjunct faculty positions to teach courses in various areas of law. Applicants should have demonstrated expertise and experience in the subjects they wish to teach and be committed to providing a rigorous and quality educational experiences to our students.

Requirements

  • J.D. degree
  • Minimum of three years of professional legal experience

Nice To Haves

  • A demonstrated history of successful teaching at the graduate or undergraduate level.
  • A record of engagement with the College of Law.
  • A judicial clerkship or similar experience.
  • Supervisory experience in a legal practice setting.

Responsibilities

  • Developing a syllabus that reflects assessment of student performance against course learning outcomes and that complies with University and College of Law policies
  • Providing students with appropriately rigorous materials and expertise in the assigned subjects
  • Contributing to and maintaining a positive and collaborative learning environment
  • Ensuring that students receive prompt and productive feedback concerning their work
  • Being available and responsive to students
  • Being responsive to and working with law school administration on all aspects of course management
  • Being aware of and following academic policies and procedures related to instruction and recordkeeping
  • Using appropriate technology to facilitate communication, course management, assignment and examination administration, and reporting of grades
  • Attending adjunct faculty training and other meetings during the semester.
