About The Position

West Hills Community College District is seeking part-time (Adjunct) Faculty for various disciplines. The position offers a salary range of $68 - $75 per contact hour and is primarily located in Coalinga, Lemoore, Firebaugh, surrounding state prisons (Rising Scholars program), high schools, and online. The district has a rich history of serving the educational needs of the west side of the San Joaquin Valley for over 80 years, covering nearly 3,500 square miles with multiple educational facilities. The successful candidate will be passionate about educating a diverse student population through culturally responsive pedagogy and effective practices for engaging students with diverse learning needs, backgrounds, and academic goals. Teaching assignments may include a mixture of day, evening, and weekend courses, as well as face-to-face, online, and hybrid classes, depending on campus needs and course assignments.

Requirements

  • Evidence of sensitivity and responsiveness to the racial, ethnic, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, socioeconomic, academic, and cultural diversity within the community college student population.
  • Minimum qualifications in any discipline in which work experience may be provided at the college.
  • Requires a valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

  • Instruct and evaluate students effectively in face-to-face, hybrid, or online classes.
  • Implement contemporary teaching methods that enhance learning and utilize technology for instructional and non-instructional duties.
  • Incorporate the use of technology in performing instructional and non-instructional duties including distance education technologies.
  • Teach courses consistent with the approved Course Outline of Record.
  • Assess and evaluate class content and materials, making changes based on student needs.
  • Champion collaborative practices in instruction that lead to an active student-centered environment.
  • Work with counseling/advising and student services teams to support and address student needs.
  • Advise and assist students.
  • Perform all other related duties as assigned.
