About The Position

West Hills Community College District is seeking part-time (Adjunct) Faculty for Guidance Studies. The position involves teaching introductory courses designed to help students develop foundational understanding and skills to meet their educational and career goals. The successful candidate will demonstrate a passion for educating a diverse student population through culturally responsive pedagogy and effective practices for engaging students with diverse learning needs. Teaching assignments may include a mixture of day, evening, and weekend courses, as well as face-to-face, online, and hybrid classes, depending on campus needs and course assignments.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in disability, special education, education, psychology, educational psychology, or rehabilitation counseling.
  • Fifteen semester units of upper division graduate study in the area of disability.
  • Evidence of sensitivity and responsiveness to racial, ethnic, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, socioeconomic, academic, and cultural diversity.
  • Ability to instruct and evaluate students effectively in the college classroom.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with students and staff, both orally and in writing.
  • Commitment to working with a diverse team on implementing inclusive, culturally responsive practices.

Responsibilities

  • Instruct and evaluate students effectively in face-to-face, hybrid, or online classes.
  • Implement contemporary teaching methods that enhance learning and utilize technology.
  • Incorporate the use of technology in performing instructional and non-instructional duties.
  • Teach courses consistent with the approved Course Outline of Record.
  • Assess and evaluate class content and materials, making changes based on student needs.
  • Champion collaborative practices in instruction that lead to an active student-centered environment.
  • Work with counseling/advising and student services team to support student needs.
  • Advise and assist students.
  • Perform all other related duties as assigned.

Benefits

  • Salary range of $68 - $75 per contact hour.
