About The Position

The Part-Time Activities Assistant at Silverado plays a crucial role in enhancing the lives of residents in the Beach Cities Community by organizing and leading engaging activities. This position focuses on providing support to the Director of Resident Engagement and ensuring that residents participate in enriching programs that cater to their needs, particularly those with Alzheimer's and other dementia-related diseases.

Requirements

• High school diploma, GED or educational equivalent required.
• Must clear a criminal background check, a physical and drug screening.
• Must have a valid driver license, a good driving record, and current auto insurance.
• Comfortable working in an environment with pets and assisting in the care of community pets.
• Willing to demonstrate passion and ability to work with people with Alzheimer's disease and other dementia-related diseases.
• Previous experience working with older adults and/or persons with memory-impairing diseases is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Director of Resident Engagement with planning and implementation of resident activity programs daily.
• Organize and lead daily memory enrichment activities with a small group of residents.
• Enthusiastically encourage resident participation in activities and recreational programs and celebrate their achievements.
• Prepare background materials and conduct relevant research for activities and recreational programs.
• Assist with music and occupational therapy for residents.
