About The Position

Job Opportunity: Part-Time Accountant (CPA Preferred but Not Required) We’re looking for a detail-oriented part-time Accountant to join our team and help manage core accounting functions across multiple states and locations. The ideal candidate is CPA certified (preferred but not required), experienced in multi-state compliance, and comfortable working independently to ensure accuracy and adherence to GAAP standards. ABOUT B&Z MANUFACTURING Since 1960, B&Z Manufacturing has been machining ultra-precision components for San Francisco Bay Area companies within California, such as Agilent Technologies, Hewlett-Packard, Honeywell-Measurex, and others. We specialize in multi-axis milling and turning and our facility has been granted ISO 9001:2015 certification by DQS Inc. B&Z is a clean, modern, temperature-controlled, 16,000 square foot high-tech manufacturing facility. Through many years of experience, our quality and "just-in-time" delivery have gained us recognition in the electronic, aerospace, medical, military, and computer industries. We added a new facility in Nashville, Arkansas in 2006. This new facility is currently 6,000 square feet and growing fast. As an alternative to sending work overseas, B&Z has chosen to maintain its quality workmanship by opening up another facility in a less expensive part of the United States. Remaining high-tech after all these years is our key to success. Our capabilities include 4 and 5 axis machines, high production pallet changers, internal electronic probing on machines, 3 Zeiss CMMs to ensure repeatable quality, and communication convenience with the ability to start with purchase orders, program/run-parts, and invoice from electronic files via the internet.

Requirements

  • CPA certification preferred (or equivalent experience in accounting and taxation)
  • Proven experience with multi-state accounting, sales tax, and compliance
  • Strong understanding of GAAP, payroll, and reconciliation best practices
  • Proficiency in accounting and payroll software (e.g., Jobboss, ADP, etc) and Excel
  • Excellent attention to detail, organization, and time management skills
  • Ability to work part-time and remotely with minimal supervision

Responsibilities

  • Perform monthly account reconciliations and maintain accurate bookkeeping records
  • Prepare and file Form 571-L for multiple states and ensure compliance with state tax laws
  • Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable processes
  • Assist with payroll administration and coordinate with payroll providers as needed
  • Prepare and issue 1099s
  • Support workers’ compensation audits and ensure proper documentation
  • File quarterly sales tax returns and maintain compliance with state requirements
  • Track and manage annual business license renewals and dues
  • Assist with end-of-year tax audit preparation and liaise with external auditors
  • Uphold GAAP compliance and recommend process improvements for efficiency and accuracy
