About The Position

Trinity Academy High School is seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to serve as a part -time Choral Accompanist. The ideal candidate will possess accompanist piano and keyboard skills as well as strong communication and collaboration skills in working with choral staff and students

Requirements

• Commitment to Jesus Christ demonstrated in professional and personal life
• Read Sheet Music: Ability to read and interpret sheet music accurately including playing parts separately or together.
• Play Piano/Keyboard: Proficiency in playing piano or keyboard
• Basic ability to perform open score: Playing 2 or more vocal lines at the same time.
• Rehearsal Attendance: Accompanying rehearsals for choir, band, or solo performances.
• Understanding styles/phrasings: Ability to understand and interpret music based on historical time period and stylistic elements.
• Improvisation: Basic improvisational skills, especially in styles relevant to a particular piece. Creating interludes in between pieces during a concert. Expanding the voice leading in an acapella piece to create an open accompaniment.
• Collaboration: Working closely with directors, conductors, and performers to achieve musical goals. Willingness to work with different styles of direction and with different age groups/ability levels.
• Communication: Effective communication with performers regarding musical interpretation and rehearsal details.

Responsibilities

• Available during the school day for 3 classes per day – The schedule will have some flexibility, averaging 10 -12 hours a week for the whole school year.
• Available for choral performances and potentially school functions such as graduation
• Potential Schedule: 11 a.m. -2 p.m. MTF, 8 a.m. -12:45 p.m. W
