About The Position

The Adjunct Dental Hygiene Clinical Instructor is responsible for supervising, instructing, and evaluating dental hygiene students in the clinical setting. This position ensures that students develop the knowledge, skills, and professional behaviors required for competent, ethical dental hygiene practice. The instructor provides direct clinical instruction, reinforces didactic concepts, and promotes adherence to infection control, safety, and ethical standards. The adjunct clinical instructor works collaboratively with full-time faculty, clinic coordinators, and program leadership to maintain a supportive and student-centered learning environment. This position may include pre-clinic and clinical instruction according to program needs.

Requirements

  • Must support the mission, vision, and values of NDSCS
  • Support the mission and goals of the Allied Dental Education Department
  • Associate's degree in dental hygiene
  • Minimum 5 years clinical dental hygiene experience
  • Eligible for North Dakota Dental Hygiene licensure
  • Local Anesthesia certification
  • Demonstrated competence in clinical dental hygiene
  • Ability to work in a team-centered environment
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • More than 5 years of clinical dental hygiene experience
  • North Dakota Dental Hygiene License
  • Bachelor's degree in dental hygiene or related field
  • Teaching experience
  • Two-year college experience
  • Knowledge of dental hygiene curriculum
  • Knowledge of radiology (digital), periodontics, and clinical dental hygiene
  • Coursework and/or knowledge of instructional methodology and diverse delivery methods
  • DANB certified

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and evaluate students' clinical performance and patient care procedures.
  • Provide constructive feedback to support student learning and professional growth.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, HIPAA, and institutional infection control policies.
  • Demonstrate and model professional behavior and communication consistent with the ADHA Code of Ethics.
  • Maintain accurate and timely student performance records.
  • Participate in calibration and orientation sessions as required by the program.
  • Communicate effectively with students, faculty, and staff to support clinical operations.
  • Assist with clinic setup, maintenance, and patient management to ensure smooth daily operations.
