The Direct Support Professional is responsible for assisting and monitoring clients in various aspects of self-care, including dressing, bathing, toileting, and meal times. This role involves ensuring clients utilize family-style dining and assisting with housekeeping responsibilities such as clothing care, house cleaning, and yard care. The professional will also help clients prepare meals and nutritional supplements, administer prescribed medication accurately, and implement prescribed diet orders while utilizing adaptive equipment. Additionally, the role requires following established behavior programs, collecting data, and adhering to safety procedures. The Direct Support Professional will participate as a member of the interdisciplinary team, communicate client information as directed, and transport clients on company vehicles. The position also involves assisting clients during community outings and school or day program activities. Staff development classes and competency testing are required, and the professional must ensure a clean, safe, and secure work area and company vehicles. Documentation must be completed as required, and any violations of client rights or on-the-job injuries must be reported immediately. Punctuality and adherence to the dress code are essential, as well as positive interactions with clients, parents, guardians, and coworkers.
