About The Position

Requirements

• 6 yrs. trg. or 6 yrs. exp. in community corrections to include report writing, offender treatment referrals, offender service delivery & participation in corrections/criminal justice agencies operations & investigations; 6 mos. trg. or 6 mos. exp. providing work direction &/or training; valid Ohio Driver's license.
• completion of undergraduate core program in criminology, criminal justice, law enforcement, sociology, social work, psychology or related field; 48 mos. trg. or 48 mos. exp. in community corrections to include report writing, offender treatment referrals, offender service delivery & participation in corrections/criminal justice agencies operations & investigations; 6 mos. trg. or 6 mos. exp. providing work direction &/or training; valid Ohio Driver's license.
• completion of graduate core program in criminology, criminal justice, law enforcement, sociology, social work, psychology or related field; 36 mos. trg. or 36 mos. exp. in community corrections to include report writing, offender treatment referrals, offender service delivery & participation in correction/criminal justice agencies operations & investigations; 6 mos. trg. or 6 mos. exp. providing work direction &/or training; valid Ohio Driver's license.
• 12 mos. exp. as Senior Parole Officer, 69812; valid Ohio Driver's license.
• 24 mos. exp. as Parole Officer, 69810 or 69811; valid Ohio Driver's license.
• equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above.

Responsibilities

• Serves as parole program specialist in area of Fugitive Section under direction of Parole Program Administrator
• Processes arrests information of at-large offenders.
• Issues lost time for PRC cases & requests lost time from BOSC for parole/TRC offenders.
• Authorizes, restores Minutes for all at-large offenders.
• Authorizes waiver to time frames for issuing warrants for offenders under APA supervision.
• Maintains LEADS/NCIC certification.
• Follows up on leads/tips/information to locate offenders declared at large.
• Uses range of resources to include LEADS & other national databases to obtain information on possible whereabouts of at large offenders.
• Works with outside law enforcement agencies to locate & have at large offenders arrested.
• Monitors & tracks offenders in custody outside of Ohio being held on APA warrants.
• Arranges for offender’s return upon availability.
• Requests Governor’s warrant when necessary.
• Obtains information relating to offenders out of state charges for use at APA violation hearings.
• Works closely with Office of Prisons to handle institution escapes/walk-aways.
• Issues & monitors warrants for inmates as needed.
• Acts as a liaison between institution & field in order to have erroneous release cases brought back to institution.
• Acts as liaison between fugitive section & victim services on victim notify cases.
• Acts as liaison between fugitive section & parole board on policy & procedure compliance issues.
• Acts as liaison with DRC to resolve status of prior incarcerations
• Submits cases for termination by way of Administrative Release due to out of state convictions, deportation, or lengthy violator at large status.
• Act as liaison between field & parole board on PRC assessment issues & parole matters.
• Serves as Duty Officer after hours on rotating basis as emergency contact for outside law enforcement agencies.
• Identifies training needs in area of policies & procedures for unit supervisors, senior parole officers, & parole officers.
• Provides current & up-to-date information to regional staff regarding changes in Fugitive policy & procedures.
• Assists in Continuous Quality Assurance process regarding implementation of evidence-based practices in field operations.
• May participate in employment selection process to include screening, interviewing & conducting pre-employment background investigations of applicants.
• May be required to conduct special investigations involving unusual incidents & employee misconduct & serve as Hearing Officer for Pre-Disciplinary hearings.
• Attends staff meetings, training sessions & conferences.
• Serve on committees.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
