About The Position

The mission of the Parole/Probation Specialist is to support the effective functioning of community corrections by managing the intake and processing of offenders, ensuring accurate data entry, and maintaining comprehensive offender records. This role is crucial in enhancing public safety by interpreting and coding sentencing documents, verifying offender data, and preparing detailed criminal records. This position is not a telework position and is required to report to the FDC office in the area it serves.

Requirements

  • Must possess a High School Diploma or its equivalent.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and create content for social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube, and use them for recruitment.
  • Respond to questions from media, the public, and other agencies about inmates, institutions, and probationers.
  • Create and edit the Department’s employee newsletter and other publications and assist with writing and producing materials like brochures and videos.
  • Coordinate media relations, including arranging interviews with inmates and managing media presence during executions.
  • Support agency leadership at events, research correctional policies and trends, and develop media relations strategies for local facilities.
