About The Position

Under general direction of the Parks Manager, and assigned under direct supervision of a Parks Foreman, performs a variety of maintenance of Draper City parks, which may include turf mowing, weed control, gardening, and turf fertilization, and daily park building maintenance.

Requirements

High School diploma or G.E.D.
Experience with gardening, weed abatement, and janitorial or custodial duties
Valid Utah Driver License.
Must pass a lift test of 50 pounds prior to or on date of hire.
Knowledge of City policies and procedures
Knowledge of Standard safety practices and procedures
Skilled with Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with supervisors, employees, volunteers, public officials, and the public
Skilled with Using use a variety of hand tools including rakes, brooms, shovels, pruner, etc.
Ability to Set priorities, concentrate on tasks accurately, and accomplish duties in a timely manner
Ability to Understand and follow instructions; maintain programs and handle work assignments
Ability to Learn aspects of park system related maintenance and repairs
Ability to Perform manual tasks for extended periods of time
Ability to Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
Ability to Perform duties in a manner that demonstrates respect, integrity, courtesy and kindness; organize assigned work and develop effective work methods

Responsibilities

Maintains city parks, facilities, open spaces and equestrian arena: mows, fertilizes, and trims turf at city parks, cemetery and recreation facilities.
Picks up garbage and litter.
Operates and maintains vehicles and equipment.
Performs miscellaneous repairs and maintenance.
Cleans and tidies up park restrooms.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
