About The Position

Perform park infrastructure inspections, maintenance and repairs. May assist the Parks Specialist in constructing and renovating playgrounds, facilities, structures, and trails. The salary range for this position is $23.11- $31.20 per hour with a hiring range of $23.11 - $27.16 , depending on qualifications and experience. This opportunity will be available to applicants until Friday, 2.13.26 at 12:00 P.M. M.S.T. A current resume is preferred. Essential Functions: Provides aesthetically pleasing, safe and usable facilities and structures by assisting Parks Specialist and by ensuring skilled hands-on equipment operation during the construction and renovation of sidewalks, trails, restrooms, playgrounds, meter pits, maintenance buildings, shelters, storage sheds, concession areas, landscapes, fencing, active and passive recreation areas and other facilities or structures as directed. Efficient on-site use of material, equipment and resources through accurate material inventory and truck stocking. Maintains dialogue and relationships with the public, special interest groups and City staff on a constructive level by employing effective interpersonal skills. Communicates information for internal documenting and for reporting and planning, by maintaining, monitoring and updating complete records of facilities and structure construction/renovation management. Other Job Functions: Assists other personnel in the park system as necessary. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School graduate or GED required.
  • 2 years experience in general construction, including equipment operation and concrete finishing required.
  • Ability to form, pour and finish concrete required.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain within one (1) year of hire, National Park and Recreation Association Playground Safety Inspector's certification.
  • Must be able to follow oral and written instructions and able to communicate effectively in writing and orally with a variety of people directly and by using a cell phone and computer.
  • Review throughout construction sites/facility grounds of various topographical conditions and to visually identify needed work and inspect work results.
  • Interpret construction documents, blueprints and field drawings.
  • Field design, engineer, layout and construct projects without the benefit of complete and/or full sets of project documents and specifications.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of construction practices and techniques, as well as equipment operations.

Nice To Haves

  • Park and/or trail construction experience is highly desirable.
  • Ability to interpret construction documents, blueprints and field drawings preferred.
