About The Position

COTTONWOOD HEIGHTS PARKS AND RECREATION SERVICE AREA POSITION DESCRIPTION (NON-EXEMPT) Position Title: Park Supervisor Position Characteristics: Non-seasonal Benefitted full time position, 11 paid holidays, 1 personal day, annual vacation (80 hours) and sick (104 hours) accrual, Utah Retirement Systems non contributory Retirement, 401K match, 457 match, Company Sponsored Health/Dental/Life Insurance, FREE Family Ultimate Membership, family friendly atmosphere. Primarily weekday shifts however an occational evening, Saturday, Sunday, or holidays may occur. Position Reports To: Parks and Manager Positions Directly Supervised: Groundskeepers, Park Workers Position Purpose: Responsible for maintaining Service Area parks and grounds efficiently so as to provide a clean, safe, and comfortable atmosphere for patrons. Park Supervisors will be assigned to a specific area: Butler Park & Recreation Center, Bywater Park, Mountview Park, Antczak Park, and City Areas. He/She may also be assigned as a Project Leader. Complete refurbishing and cleaning duties as assigned by Parks and Operations Manager or Director. Perform regular turf acre, complete daily maintenance of all courts and athletic fields, and schedules maintenance crews as needed. Nature and Scope: This position requires attention to detail, good physical health and strength, and the ability to work well independently. Incumbent must be able to operate all related equipment and machinery and possess good time management skills in order to successfully execute this position.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid Driver’s License and a copy of their Motor Vehicle Record to be provided prior to employment.
  • Approved Criminal Background Investigation check if over 18 years of age.
  • Familiar with a wide variety of power driven machinery and gas powered lawn equipment.
  • Minimum of 1 year turf management experience.
  • Good physical health and strength.
  • Good organization skills.
  • Able to work evenings and weekends.
  • Basic mechanical and handyman abilities.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in building or landscaping preferred.
  • Experience as a leadsman or foreman or equivalent of 1 year supervisory experience.

Responsibilities

  • Assume responsibility for effectively and efficiently maintaining Service Area grounds and parks.
  • Inspect the turf irrigation system regularly. Check for proper operations and repairs as needed.
  • Care for turf areas regularly. Mow, edge, trim, prune, weed, spot water, and perform other duties as necessary.
  • Complete refurbishment and major cleaning duties as assigned by Parks and Recreation Manager or Director.
  • Maintain ball diamonds, soccer fields, tennis courts daily.
  • Inspect and perform minor repairs on playground equipment.
  • Clean restrooms and pavilions daily.
  • Inspect ground and facilities to ensure a safe environment.
  • Assume responsibility for establishing and maintaining effective working relations with area personnel and with management.
  • Schedule maintenance crew activities as necessary to ensure a clean and safe park atmosphere.
  • Attend staff meetings as required.
  • Keep management well informed of area activities and of any significant problems.
  • Assist area staff as needed.
  • Maintain a current and accurate inventory of tools and supplies.
  • Follows established safety procedures.
  • Keeps work area clean and free of clutter.
  • During the off season (Novemeber-February), will assume the duties of Visual Maintenance and refurbishment as assigned by the Parks and Operations Manager. These duties will also include snow removal and scheduled hours will be adjusted to meet the needs of Service Area.
  • Ensure that each park is efficiently managed.
  • Ensure all safety procedures are being followed by the Groundskeepers and Park Workers.
  • Inspects playground equipment, ball diamonds, grounds, restrooms, and pavilions for cleanliness and safety.
