About The Position

Join the Niobrara State Park Leadership Team and help administer and manage the grounds, horticultural, hike/bike trails, swimming pool, and equestrian operations/activities for the Niobrara State Park and satellite Ashfall State Historical Park. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in park/recreation management or a related field; (wildlife, fisheries, natural resources sciences, public administration, history, cultural resource preservation or interpretation, travel and tourism, and planning) AND at least three years related experience including two years in a supervisory capacity.
  • Related coursework/training and/or experience in park/recreation management or related field may substitute for the Bachelor’s degree on a year-for-year basis.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Knowledge and interest in park management, principles and techniques of supervision, Nebraska wildlife, natural resources, and outdoor recreation.
  • The operation, maintenance, and repair of park building, facilities, and equipment.
  • Learn and apply agency rules and regulations.
  • Clearly present and communicate information to varied audiences.
  • Work and make decisions independently and as a team.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, administrative personnel, and the public.

Responsibilities

  • Management of campground and cabin operations, facility maintenance, grounds keeping, cultural and natural resource management, trail maintenance, and oversee visitor activities/programs.
  • Hire, train, supervise, and mentor both permanent staff and seasonal staff for assigned areas of responsibility.
  • Development and administration of park area budgets, collecting data, maintaining records, preparing reports, fee collection, oversight of accounts payable and receivable functions.

  • Master planning, infrastructure development and project/construction coordination.
  • Lead and communicate with the community and general public in the efforts of park development and park promotion.
  • Assist with education programming and special events.
  • Other duties as required.
