About The Position

The Parks Services Technician I position involves skilled and unskilled work in the construction and maintenance of parks, recreational areas, and related county facilities. The role requires the safe operation of various equipment and tools, and the technician may work as part of a crew or independently under standard supervision. Responsibilities include maintaining park grounds, operating heavy machinery, and ensuring facilities are safe and clean for public use.

Requirements

• Must be 18 years of age and possess a valid driver's license prior to appointment.
• Must obtain a Class B CDL license within six (6) months of appointment.
• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Experience in the operation and maintenance of heavy construction and automotive equipment.

• Ability to communicate verbally and comprehend verbal orders.
• Ability to read and understand written work orders and safety information.
• Knowledge of safe work practices and ability to apply them in work situations.

Responsibilities

• Operate equipment such as trucks, skid steer loaders, tractors, mowers, and chain saws.
• Participate in the construction and maintenance of sports fields and park grounds.
• Perform park and facility maintenance activities including landscaping, mowing, and litter control.
• Prepare park and recreational areas for public use by performing manual maintenance tasks.
• Assist with the installation and maintenance of playground equipment.
• Perform touch-up painting of park structures and make minor repairs as directed.
• Repair and install walking and passive trails throughout park space.
• Keep vehicles and equipment cleaned, serviced, and in good operating condition.
• Assist with snow removal when necessary.
• Perform related duties as assigned.
