To perform a variety of skilled plumbing tasks in the repair and maintenance of public buildings and facilities; to perform the design, installation, maintenance and repair of Park irrigation systems and Park fixtures; and to perform a variety of plumbing tasks in assigned areas.

  • Assume the duty of crew leader for various operations as directed by their supervisor and during their absences. Must possess good time management and organize their day accordingly.
  • Design, install, maintain, and repair park irrigation/plumbing systems; troubleshoot and perform visual inspections of irrigation/plumbing systems; make necessary repairs and adjustments; activate and winterize irrigation systems annually. Perform general cleanup of job sites, including seeding and sodding of disturbed areas.
  • Understand and can perform daily programming of the Central Control System.
  • Perform visual and physical inspection of parks turf grass and landscape plants and determine adequate soil moisture levels. Program irrigation systems to deliver accurate, precise, and timely water quantities for maintaining quality turf grass and landscape plants.
  • Operate a variety of equipment and tools utilized in plumbing activities.
  • Estimate time, materials and equipment required for jobs assigned; requisition materials as required; Make repairs to irrigation systems in a timely manner as directed by supervisor.
  • Operate heavy equipment such as skid loaders, backhoes, dump trucks, compressors, snowplows, sweepers, and various other equipment in support of a variety of maintenance and construction operations involving Parks; clean and maintain equipment including pre/post trip inspections.
  • Maintain a positive and cooperative attitude towards the public and co-workers. Be a role model/mentor for other employees within the City of Cheyenne.
  • Participate in special events and on call responsibilities.
  • Respond to public inquires in a courteous manner; provide information within the area of assignment; resolve complaints in an efficient and timely manner.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as required.
  • High school diploma or GED with specialized training in plumbing and irrigation system repair / maintenance, and central control computer programming.
  • Associate degree or three (3) years of increasingly responsible irrigation experience performing maintenance work involving the skilled operation of park irrigation and plumbing equipment.
  • Two (2) years of supervision/lead role experience.
  • ASSE backflow testing certification, Wyoming Department of Agriculture Commercial Pesticide Applicators license.
