About The Position

This internship provides hands-on experience in program development, event coordination, and daily recreation operations. The intern will support community events, assist with recreation activities, and complete a special project highlighting program or event management skills.

Requirements

• Current college student with at least 30 credit hours in Parks and Recreation or a related field.
• Ability to work MondayFriday, 8 a.m.5 p.m., with flexibility for evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed for events.

Responsibilities

• Assist with recreation programs and events under the guidance of recreation managers and supervisors.
• Support the planning and execution of major city events, including: The Great Lenexa BBQ Battle Community Days Parade Freedom Run Movie Nights and Farmers Market
• Gain experience working alongside staff in recreation operations.
• Contribute to summer camp activities, including field trip supervision.
• Complete a special project demonstrating program or event management skills.
