The City of Madison Parks Division is looking for individuals who are passionate about the natural environment and public service. This is a skilled position responsible for representing the Madison Parks Division and the City of Madison in direct contact with the community often requiring independent judgment in difficult situations. Areas of responsibility include customer service, providing visitor services, parks rules and city ordinance enforcement, and routine custodial and maintenance. Work is performed independently under the supervision of the Ranger Supervisor and Lead Park Ranger. This position involves direct resident contact, requiring the ability to work through conflict and emotional encounters with empathy and discretion while maintaining personal and public safety. The position is seasonal, limited to 1,350 hours per year, with approximately 0 to 40 hours per week that may include afternoons, evenings, holidays, and weekends.
