About The Position

As a Parks Project Advisor for Day Camp Development and Licensing, you will lead the planning and creation of new day camp programs in close coordination with the Nature and Outdoor Education team. This role ensures full compliance with all licensing requirements, safety standards, and documentation needed for day camps to operate legally, effectively, and at the highest level of quality. The ideal applicant will have demonstrated experience leading, managing, and licensing day camp programs in Michigan, supported by strong working knowledge of state childcare licensing requirements and best practices for youth programming. Requirements

  • Possess a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in an area related to planning, project coordination, public administration, public relations, communications, or related field of study.
  • NOTE: Applicants possessing transcripts from a college or university outside of the United States will be required to provide documentation of degree equivalency from a member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (http://naces.org/members.html). The degree evaluation will be required for application processing.
  • Have had at least five (5) years of full-time technical or professional level experience in an area related to the function of the assigned department.
  • NOTE: Additional experience of the type described above may be substituted for the college degree on a year-for-year basis.
  • Possess a valid United States motor vehicle operator's or chauffeur's license. Out of country driver's license holders will be required to obtain the appropriate valid State of Michigan driver's license before the hire date.
  • Pass the complete examination including the employment medical established for this classification.
  • Maintain a valid United States motor vehicle operator's or chauffeur's license.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and planning of new day camp programs in coordination with the Nature and Outdoor Education team.
  • Manage all licensing, compliance, and documentation requirements for day camp operations.
  • Ensure camp programs adhere to all applicable state childcare licensing rules and safety standards.
  • Oversee processes and materials that support effective, high-quality youth programming.
