The Park Program Services Leader is a highly skilled, creative, self-motivated team member, providing expertise in outdoor recreational activities and historical programing. This position provides tours, recreational programming, and historical interpretation at Cumberland Falls State Resort Park. Additionally, this position will assist the Supervisor of the department with all facets of natural, cultural, and historical interpretation and recreation. The Parks Program Services Leader reports directly to the Parks Program Services Supervisor.

Requirements

  • EDUCATION: Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree in recreation, outdoor recreation, park resource interpretation, physical education, history, environmental education, biology, forestry, botany, zoology, anthropology, archaeology, area studies, cultural studies, art history, geography, parks and recreation management or administration, sociology, paleoanthropology or a closely related field.
  • EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: NONE
  • Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: NONE
  • Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Related experience as a park naturalist, park interpreter, environmental educator, conservation educator, or in planned outdoor recreation or physical education, recreation, park resource interpretation, history, environmental education, biology, forestry, botany, zoology, anthropology, archaeology, area studies, cultural studies, art history, geography, parks and recreation management or administration, sociology, paleoanthropology or a closely related field will substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

Responsibilities

  • Creating, conducting, organizing, promoting, and evaluating programs and special events offered to park visitors year-round.
  • Creating, conducting, and organizing a weekly program schedule during periods of high visitation.
  • Completing recreational reports.
  • Implementing correct procedures with pool facility.
  • Recreational Programming to include cultural, historical, and biological interpretation.
  • Promoting and maintaining public relations.
  • Participating in the collecting, cataloging, and maintenance of various types of flora, fauna, and other specimens of nature.
  • Inspecting and assisting with the maintaining of hiking trails.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
