The Parks Maintenance Technician plays a key role in supporting the City’s overall success by performing tasks related to landscaping, construction, maintenance, and repair within parks, trails, athletic fields, public open spaces, and facilities. Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to: General Maintenance and Repairs Perform routine general and preventative maintenance tasks, including equipment cleaning, repairs, and infrastructure preparation. Address maintenance issues promptly and report concerns to the supervisor as necessary. Contribute to the team effort by performing other related duties as assigned. Grounds and Athletic Field Maintenance Prepare and maintain athletic fields, park grounds, and associated amenities. Tasks may include painting fields, collecting trash and debris, mowing, and installing park benches. Landscaping and Tree Maintenance Trim trees and shrubs to enhance the appearance of park areas. Perform basic landscape installation and maintenance. Equipment Operation Operate light equipment such as saws, weed eaters, drills, and edgers to complete maintenance tasks effectively. Playground and Park Structure Maintenance Monitor and maintain playground equipment and park structures to ensure safety and functionality. Inventory Management Monitor and maintain inventory levels of equipment, supplies, and materials needed for maintenance activities. Building Maintenance Perform basic building maintenance tasks to support the upkeep of park facilities. Special Event Support Assist in the preparation, operation, and takedown of special events hosted by the City. Contribute to event success through efficient setup, coordination, and cleanup. Professional Interaction Interact professionally and respectfully with the public, coworkers, and other stakeholders during daily work activities. Attendance and Emergency Response Maintain regular and timely attendance for scheduled shifts. Be available for duty outside normal work hours in response to natural disasters, emergencies, or critical incidents, as determined by City Administration.
