About The Position

The City of O'Fallon is seeking a dedicated and skilled Parks Maintenance Crew Leader to join our Parks & Recreation team. This position plays a key role in maintaining the beauty, safety, and functionality of our city parks while leading an assigned crew in daily operations. Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Ability to read, write, and perform math at an associate-degree level
  • 3–5 years of experience in a related field, including supervisory familiarity
  • Ability to obtain a Class A CDL (paid training provided)
  • Knowledge of turf management, irrigation systems, equipment operation, herbicides/pesticides, small engines, and general construction
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to motivate a team
  • Ability to work safely and operate a variety of tools and heavy equipment

Responsibilities

  • Schedule, prioritize, and coordinate daily work for park maintenance personnel
  • Supervise, train, and evaluate full-time and part-time staff
  • Perform playground inspections and minor repairs
  • Maintain athletic and non-turf areas, including mowing and turf management
  • Operate, maintain, and coordinate repairs to irrigation systems
  • Oversee pesticide and fertilizer programs and make applications as needed
  • Clean and inspect pavilions, parking lots, restrooms, and playgrounds
  • Coordinate minor construction and facility maintenance
  • Enforce safety policies and ensure a safe working environment
  • Purchase supplies and assist with budgeting
  • Support festivals, events, and seasonal operations
  • Operate equipment such as dump trucks, backhoes, skid steers, excavators, chain saws, turf equipment, and more
  • Identify and repair hazards proactively
  • Supervise and participate in snow removal operations
  • Maintain splash pads and water features, including chemical balancing
  • Perform a variety of park amenity maintenance tasks
  • Prepare athletic fields for play through mowing, grooming, lining, and base setup
  • Maintain lakes, creeks, wetlands, and retention areas
  • Identify and remove invasive plant species, support native habitat health
  • Maintain disc golf courses
