About The Position

This is structure and craft work involving the upkeep, repair, and overall maintenance and repair of several state parks and historic sites within an assigned geographical area. Responsibilities include the operation, repair, maintenance, and transportation of several pieces of heavy equipment throughout the state park system. Employee performs as well as coordinates the work of contractors in general mechanical repair and maintenance of parks infrastructure including (but not limited to) heating, water and sewerage systems, equipment, buildings, trails, roads, piers, docks, floats, and parking areas. Must be willing to travel on occasional work assignments throughout the state park system. Work is performed under the limited supervision of the Northern Region Assistant Regional Manager.

Requirements

  • Six (6) years of experience in the maintenance field to include work experience in plumbing, electricity, welding, and/or allied fields.
  • Ability to read and sketch plans or blueprints
  • Ability to calculate project costs, ability to use a computer for reports and emailing purposes, and the knowledge and practice of safe work habits
  • Job offers to a new hire are conditional upon verification of credentials, criminal record, and driver’s license check if applicable.
  • Three references must be made available at the interview to include at least one work-related reference.

  • Vehicle and boat maintenance and repair, powered equipment operation, maintenance, and repair (including tractors and similar equipment)
