About The Position

The Parks & Facilities Specialist II is responsible for the general and preventive maintenance, construction, and repair of City parks, facilities, and buildings. This role includes tasks such as landscaping, mowing, painting, and repairs to ensure the upkeep of parks, right of ways, community centers, and City buildings. The Parks & Facilities Specialist II plays a vital role in maintaining the City’s public spaces and infrastructure, with work assignments carried out in all weather conditions.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• At least three years of hands on / outside work experience
• A valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Operates and maintains a variety of standard power tools, equipment and vehicles to perform assigned duties including but not limited to picking up and delivering materials/supplies, collecting and removing debris, trash or hazardous material and deposing appropriately, maintaining daily upkeep of City right of ways, parks, facilities, buildings and vehicles as assigned.
• Performs routine construction, maintenance and repair on the City’s parks, community centers, facilities, equipment and buildings and updates record of work orders/projects.
• Performs maintenance of city parks, athletic fields, and related facilities to include performs turf management, prepares athletic fields for play, clean and repair bathrooms, mow or edge lawns, using power mowers or edgers, gather and remove litter, rake, mulch, and compost leaves.
• Performs landscaping and mowing and general housekeeping of work areas and assigned City facilities, buildings, parks, vehicles, equipment, etc.
• Manage and maintain the City’s irrigation system, water distribution at park facilities and provide proper upkeep of sidewalks, driveways, parking lots, fountains, planters, burial sites, or other grounds features.
• May respond to road service and traffic control response as required on-call including hazardous and severe weather conditions.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
