About The Position

The City of Sioux City is seeking very energetic (15) fifteen Parks & Recreation Attendants to provide primary customer service in our Parks & Recreation Department. Attendants are in constant interaction with the public. Successful candidates will primarily be responsible for the day-to-day operations at the STF Expo Center, Riverside Soccer Complex, and Long Lines Family Recreation Center. Daily tasks include working inside a concession stand to prepare food and drinks, running the cash register, and setting up fields and/or courts for rentals. This position performs other related manual tasks. The position stores & prepares food products that meet all local & state health code requirements & facility guidelines. Employees in this position are expected to maintain regular and punctual attendance. Employees must be willing to work evening/weekend hours; hours may change day to day.   • Regularly lifts up to 10 pounds and occasionally lifts up to 30 pounds.
  • Must be 15 years of age by employment start date.

Responsibilities

  • Provides primary customer service and acts as a resource person in the facility.
  • Works with community to promote understanding of the facility and goodwill toward the facility.
  • Works with the public and coordinates with the public and private-party participants.
  • Coordinates general traffic in the facility and may erect traffic barricades.
  • Sets up and tears down chairs, tables and recreational equipment.
  • Performs basic cleaning and maintenance of facility and restrooms including trash removal, sweeping, dry and wet mop, snow removal/salting, and litter patrol.
  • Cleans, re-stocks and maintains floors and rugs using appropriate machinery.
  • Performs minor equipment repairs, maintains glass surfaces, and completes painting tasks.
  • Stores, prepares, and serves food products and refreshments in a manner that meets all local and state health code requirements as well as facility rules and guidelines.
  • Performs other related manual tasks in the operation and maintenance of the Parks and Recreation properties.
  • Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with officials, other agencies, fellow employees, and the general public.
  • Maintains good public relations through courteous and prompt attention to all citizen requests for services.
  • Maintains regular and punctual attendance and working hours.
  • Expected to temporarily perform duties outside of normal classification in the event of a declared emergency. In the event that an employee is excused from work other than being sick, they will be required to report to work in a state of declared emergency.
