About The Position

Parking and Transportation Services (PATS) is seeking a detail-oriented individual with strong customer service skills to serve as a Parking Enforcement Officer. This position requires a reliable individual who can consistently report to work as scheduled and fulfill assigned shifts. The role involves providing parking and campus information, communicating and enforcing parking rules and regulations, and ensuring a safe and organized parking environment across UNM campuses. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, thrive in public-facing roles, and be comfortable working outdoors in a physically active environment. This individual must be a dependable team player and demonstrate the ability to understand and apply policies, procedures, and regulations relevant to the position. Requirements

  • Demonstrated reliability, including the ability to report to work as scheduled and maintain consistent attendance.
  • Ability to work outdoors, standing and/or walking for at least 8 hours per day.
  • Availability to work evenings and weekends.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • A commitment to providing excellent customer service.
  • Capability to read, interpret, and apply policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • High School Diploma or GED; no previous experience required.
  • Possession of a valid New Mexico driver's license is a requirement for this job.

Responsibilities

  • Communicate parking regulations and campus information effectively to students, staff, faculty, and visitors.
  • Monitor campus parking facilities for safety concerns, report unusual activity, and assist with traffic control as needed.
  • Patrol parking lots and structures to ensure compliance with parking rules and report unsafe conditions.
  • Issue citations for parking violations, apply vehicle boots, and coordinate towing services when necessary.
  • Support special event parking operations, including traffic and crowd control activities.
