The Parking Meter Technician is responsible for collecting, transporting, and depositing parking pay station revenue. This role involves completing all required paperwork to ensure compliance with established processes and procedures, and obtaining signatures of acceptance from the receiving entity. The technician must observe changes in the volume of coins to guard against theft and perform preventive maintenance on parking pay stations, which includes removing and replacing mechanisms, electronic elements, installing operating configurations, changing batteries, and testing modem connectivity. Additionally, the technician reports needed repairs, damaged and malfunctioning meters, and assists pedestrians and motorists in performing transactions and understanding parking regulations. The role also includes reporting vehicles in tow-away zones, traffic accidents, hazards, and emergencies, as well as performing miscellaneous activities such as lot maintenance, light bulb replacement, meter upgrades, and other duties as assigned. The technician normally drives within an assigned area to address meter issues and may be asked to back up and assist in other areas as needed.
